I'm going to Duckon: http://www.duckon.org/index.html
I got another gig doing security. I just arranged for my room.
...on my BlackBerry.
Through a news article, I discovered the new-ish BlackBerry App World gateway to free and purchaseable BB apps.
I've got Worms, 4 versions of Solitare, and Chuzzle!
I'm also trying out an eOffice document editor, Bloomberg, and I picked up an app that turns on the LED indicator full time (a flashlight program poorly named: bLight).
Cynthia and I are back in the United States. It is early here in Florida and our flight out is not until 5:30. Many reports of snow in Chicago could delay us. Even though it should stop by 1 and be cleared off of roads before we are sceduled in (10:30ish pm) there may be delays before then that could affect the plane we are meant to use.
Cruise was great, I'll post more when I get back to a full size keyboard.
Serenity and Firefly fans rejoice! ABC (I think) airs a new show called "Castle" tonight with Nathan Fillion in a starring role.
Also, it is rumored that Alan Tudyk is secretly playing the character "Alpha" on "Dollhouse"...
So, last night was day 1 of the March auction at Games Plus.
I have 24 entries in this year's auction. 10 or 11 fell into the collectible cards and miniatures category (day 1). About 12 more will go up on family board game night (Friday) and a piece of terrain I bought last March will try to sell on Sunday (wargame miniatures day). I've got nothing in Saturday's auction (fantasy and sci fi rpg stuff).
Last night my stuff sold well for a thin crowd. I got $40 for my collection of Lotr cards, and $30 for my Star Wars cards from Decipher. I only got $10 for a box of MTG with some Alphas and Betas in it. Kurt auctioned that one after 3 other boxes of magic and didn't talk it up enough to generate interest. Even my binders of Star Wars rares and Pirates rares sold well (for a gamer auction). All told, I've got $105 waiting for me if nothing else sells. Of course, I spent about $60 on Star Wars miniatures and some odd lots like: 20 WOTC card boxes ($4 over two auctions) and an MTG laminated play mat (I'm gonna use it like a placemat when I paint miniatures...). I picked up a stack of Crow cards circa 1994 for Sharon. I had never heard if that ccg, but she likes all things Crow.
If you are local to Mt Prospect, Friday is your chance to get board games like Tannhauser, Return of the Heroes, Mississippi Queen, and Battue for cheap!
I've never heard this one before, and I came up with it on my own. if it has been famously spoken or written before today, I'm sure one of you will let me know:
"Do not try to be so well rounded that you become pointless"
Well, at least I only work NEAR Woodfield Mall, not IN it. Today they are on lock down while law enforcement searches all the people for 2 suspected gunmen.
This started around lunchtime. No one is allowed in, and only slowly are searched persons allowed out. No shootings reported, just that someone spotted a youth with a handgun.
I HATE that the only exits from my building's parking lot all face the Woodfield Mall parking lot. Every Joe-Bloe and his sister are there exchanging Christmas gifts for whatever they really wanted and cashing in their gift cards today. The parking lot is grid-locked again (just like last Monday). The off ramp from Southbound 53 to Woodfield drive is bumper to bumper also.
Monday, it took 30 minutes for these idiots to let me out of my parking lot into the main circle, and other 10 to drive 20 feet so I could make it into the next building's lot (which has an exit to the frontage road that we don't have). Shoppers don't want to let us in for fear we will get the last parking spot before they do. I need a giant sign for my car that says "I work here, I don't want your damn spots, just let me leave!"
I used to use 4x4 to blaze my own trail across the small patch of grass and 2 curbs that separate the 2 parking lots and make a quick getaway, but this month's snows are piled so high on the grass that I'd have to take a wall of snow dead on with my hood and windshield. I'm willing to take 4 wheel drive *over* lots of stuff, but not *into* a snowbank.
